Sunday Spot SeQuence

This is an example of my research in experiential site specific and responsive practice that unfolds with a place overtime. From 2020-2021, when social distancing was the protocol for began documenting weekly improvisations at this northern tip of Brooklyn waterfront that was one of the few remaining undeveloped / landscaped areas. Sometimes I would bring flower petals, seeds or chocolate. I would move boards, brink and debris that was already there around. Nothing was preplanned. I had to hop a fence to get in there which meant it was protected from everyday type of foot traffic. It was a practice in presence, listening and improvisation, no end goals, a place to dance with the elements and qualities of that place. Manhattan looming large in the background. It was a prayer without asking, a humble offering, playful exploration. A question of if I could show up every week? I wasn’t able to make it every week however the practice did have a consistency and is reflected in how the seasons change over the course of time from which this documentation is culled and edited in a sequential manner. This video piece is an artifact of the experience. It's a work in process, when completed it is intended to be a piece unto itself, played on a loop.
